One of the eminent cell phone manufacturers of the world Sony Ericsson has said that it will continue to focus on Google’s Android mobile OS. The company however, also said that it is keeping its doors open for Microsoft’s Windows Phone 7 mobile OS.
Company officials have said that they have worked with Microsoft over the years and will continue to do so but there is no concrete announcement as to when Sony Ericsson will introduce Windows Phone 7 into its product portfolio. Sony Ericsson is focusing on Android to generate a strong ecosystem for users.
Company Open To Work With Other Operating Systems As Well
Meanwhile, Sony Ericsson has said that it will not only continue to focus only on Android but will work with other mobile OS too. But considering the growth in the Android platform, it seems that the company has taken the right move. Notably, sales of Windows Phone 7 by Microsoft has not yet lived up to the mark and with rising sales of Android phones, several cell phone vendors are shifting their focus on Android phones.
On being asked about the fragmentation issues regarding Android OS, Sony Ericsson feels that Google will sort out the issue in coming days. Apart from fragmentation issues, high vulnerability of Android to malware and spam attacks needs to be sorted out for the platform to grow further. Recently, Sony Ericsson has unveiled its smartphone, Xperia Arc, running on Android 2.3 OS.
